So, tell me what you want, what you really really want! Of course, fans of the British pop group, Spice Girls, have been clamoring for reunion for decades. While the long awaited tour may be coming soon, it seems like a one-time performance at this year’s Royal Wedding has been confirmed.
America’s Got Talent judge, Mel B, aka Scary Spice, went on The Real to verify the rumors of a Spice Girls performance at the May 19th royal wedding between Prince Harry and his American bride, Meghan Markle. Shortly after the singer confirmed the performance, she realized that she accidentally spilled the beans, stating “I don’t know if I should’ve said that.” Still, it is now common knowledge that the pop group received “proper” invitations to the wedding in late spring. It’s a possibility that they grab the microphones during the lavish reception and serenade the elite attendees with some 90s-era nostalgia.
While everything points to the best wedding entertainment ever, fellow members of the group have not confirmed they will be there. Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, hasn’t stated if she will grace the stage for Harry and Meghan, but things are looking on the bright side.
Beckham took to Instagram in early February to post a picture of all five women together with the caption, “Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting X.” Is this just a reunion of friends, or did Posh Spice just tease the tour of a life time?
Well, according to reports, every member of the group has signed-on with their former manager, Simon Fuller, and the long-awaited concert series is in the works. But, when TMZ caught up with him, Fuller hinted their might only be four, not five members on the stage, as there is an issue with getting Beckham on board. In 2016, after rumors swirled of an actual reunion tour, Victoria and Mel Cdropped out, with many tabloids believing there was tension in the former pop group. But, Mel B cleared the air, stating there was no bad blood at all. That being said, can fans expect to sit front row as the now-40-year-olds dive into their greatest hits?
Don’t get your hopes all the way up, but you should definitely be optimistic. Rumor has it that all of the contracts have been signed for future performances. Also, with the Spice Girls message of ‘Girl Power’ resonating louder than ever in today’s ‘Me Too’ society, their on-stage presence could give women everywhere a bigger platform to further their fight for equality.
From a financial and activist standpoint, this tour makes perfect sense. Let’s funnel our money to watch Baby, Scary, Sporty, Ginger, and hopefully Posh Spice, rock the big stage in front of thousands of adoring fans. Even though they haven’t been together for nearly two decades, it’s time for the ladies to put aside their differences and unite as one super group! Maybe the Royal Wedding will just be a rehearsal for next year’s long-anticipated Spice Girls reunion extravaganza? Keep on checking-in to Stupid Celebrities to find out the latest!
