Dax Shepard appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and revealed that he secretly got a vasectomy after his wife Kristen Bell had a pregnancy scare. The 41-year-old actor admits he freaked out and imagined himself with tons of children when he “already has no life” with two kids.
Kimmel had asked Dax about the possibility of the couple having more children and Dax replied, “Ah, no.”
The “Idiocracy” star continued, “Last year, my wife was working in Atlanta. We were there and she all of a sudden goes, ‘Oh, my gosh! I’m so stupid. I’ve been sick for 10 days and ignoring it. I’m definitely pregnant.’ And I was like, ‘We’re going to turn into Jon & Kate Plus 8 or something. We already have no life! This is going to be not worth living.’ I freaked out. It was so bad.”

Shepard waited all day for 35-year-old Bell to return home from filming so that she could take a pregnancy test. Dax said the pregnancy scare turned out to be a false alarm. But adds, “That was Tuesday. I flew home Wednesday for a meeting. Thursday morning I had a vasectomy.”
The actor admits that his wife wasn’t thrilled when he had it so quickly, but he said he is a “man of action.”
Shepard overshared a hilarious story about having to collect a sperm sample so his doctor could make certain the procedure had worked.
Dax said there is not an area at the urology clinic to service yourself for a sample so he had to quickly “procure” a sample and bring one to the clinic.
Shepard recalled, “I had to drive crosstown, rush hour. Thank God there was heavy traffic on Laurel Canyon, so it slowed down enough that I could … I literally masturbated on Laurel Canyon in heavy traffic. It’s one thing to loosey-goosey just go for it, but I have a jar and it’s heavy traffic. It’s very curvy. It’s hard enough to get through that road while not making love to yourself, into a container. Anyways, the great news is I’m sterile.”
Dax and Kristen began dating in 2007 and waited until California legalized same-sex marriage to tie the knot in 2013. The couple are parents to two daughters – Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 17 months.
The comedic couple have acted together in several movies including “Veronica Mars, “Hit and Run”, and “When in Rome.”
Shepard even served as director for his wife Kristen in the Warner Bros’ 2017 reboot of NBC’s “CHiPs”, which hits theaters August 2017. Kristen is currently starring as Jeannie van der Hooven in the fifth season of “House of Lies” on Showtime.
