Ryan Reynolds, who is currently promoting his role as special ops fighter-turned-mercenary Wade Wilson in Deadpool, says his wife Blake Lively is actually the true superhero.
Reynolds appeared on Conan and opened up about his daughter James and how she only pays attention to his wife.
The 38-year-old actor opened up about fatherhood and the birth of their seven-month-old daughter James when he stopped by Conan to debut the new Deadpool trailer on Tuesday.
Ryan told Conan, “My wife is the real, I mean she is a mercenary.
“At one point in the middle of the delivery, the doctor’s cell phone went off and she said, ‘Oh, no. Go ahead, take a personal call. Feel free.’ She was cracking jokes in the delivery room. She may have been on drugs, but I don’t ask personal questions.”
He said he felt pretty useless during the birth of his daughter, admitting, “I was just a terrible coach. There was a lot of clapping. I went for a couple of high fives, but she did not.”
Reynolds enjoys being a father, but reveals baby James is more interested in Lively.
He said, “I’m very proud. Right now she’s starting to say ‘mama’. There’s an unfair advantage there. It turns out that breasts are actually a life support system and the child seems to gravitate towards the breasts.
“I’m just the breastless a**hole wandering around the room and getting in her sightline every once in a while. All about mom. I am dead to her. That’s her first words, ironically. ‘You’re dead to me,’ he joked.
Ryan certainly didn’t need to explain Deadpool to host Conan. He is apparently already quite the expert.
He wondered if his father even looked at them before sending, deciding to sneak a photo of his penis into the family photos.
