Busta Rhymes has been charged with assault after the 43-year-old Brooklyn native, whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., threw a bottle of Muscle Milk at a gym employee.
Busta was arrested at Steel Gym on Wednesday.
The rapper allegedly threw a container of Lean Body Protein drink at a gym worker, striking in the back of the head.
Police were called to the scene and Busta Rhymes was arrested, but the victim apparently refused medical attention.
The star was charged with assault in the second degree after his arrest.
One bodybuilder said that a front desk employee got into an argument with Busta when the rapper tried to bring a cameraman into the gym to record his workout routine on Tuesday.
The worker refused to allow the videographer inside.
Rhymes returned to the workout facility on Wednesday evening and he approached the desk to buy a water and a protein drink, but the employee said he needed to leave.
An eyewitness said, “Things got heated. Busta splashed water on him and the employee threw water back. Busta’s security got between them”.
Busta reportedly threw a protein drink and hit the employee in the head.
The insider stated, “The cops came and (the employee) kept changing his story.”
He added, “He was provoked. Busta never had any physical contact with him whatsoever.”
His lawyer adds, “It’s ridiculous, it was literally a bottle of Muscle Milk”.
Rhymes is due back in court Nov. 6
The rapper is no stranger legal woes. In 2006, he was arrested four times in 10 months. One of those times was for assaulting a fan that spit on his car, once for assaulting his driver and twice for incidents behind the wheel.
