Thom Yorke, the frontman for Radiohead, has been with his girlfriend Rachel Owen for 23 years but have now announced their split.
Rachel is mother to Thom’s two children Noah, 14, and Agnes, 11.
Rachel has been with Thom since the start of his band, with Yorke being named the “most influential artist in music today” by NME last year.
Thom now faces splitting his fortune with his longtime partner, who he began dating when they were both attending Exeter University.
Rachel, a printmaker, will remain in the couple’s Oxfordshire estate, while Thom embarks on a long tour of his solo album Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes. The tour actually started in Tokyo over the weekend.
Thom Yorke’s representative confirmed the split and released a statement.
The statement reads, “Rachel and I have separated. After 23 highly creative and happy years, for various reasons we have gone our separate ways. It’s perfectly amicable.”
Yorke is reportedly wanting to follow in the footsteps of his bandmate Jonny Greenwood, who wrote music for movies including “There Will Be Bloode”.
Thom is hoping to embark in a career of composing. He will be writing the score to Harold Pinter’s Old Times on Broadway, starring Clive Owen.
We can’t do this post without our favorite Radiohead song, “Creep”:
