One Direction are parting ways, reportedly taking at least a year off to focus on their solo projects.
The guys in the band – Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – are reportedly not touring for their upcoming fifth album.
A source revealed, “The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boy band. They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision.”
The group, which was formed on the UK X Factor in 2010, made the decision to take time apart during talks last weekend. Their final show will be held at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on October 31.
One Direction do have prior work commitments in February and will take their break in March.
Zayn Malik’s departure in March was not a factor in the split.
Liam recently stated that the band really needed time off.
He was asked what he wanted to do during a break, saying, “There’s loads of things. I’ve been writing a lot on the road at the moment, not for me, just for other people.
“‘I’ve been doing a lot of things, you know trying to get into the producing side of it which is pretty cool.”
Harry, 21, has Sony wanting to make him a solo deal, but Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is hoping to turn him into an actor.
Weinstein said of Styles, “He’s like Errol Flynn, he’s got that swashbuckling charm. Definite star potential. I think he’d be great. No question.”
Harvey also revealed that he had already offered Harry a role in one of his movies but the singer had to turn it down due to One Direction commitments.
Louis, 23, is set to become a dad in the near future following a fling with his friend Briana Jungwirth.
Tomlinson is also reportedly working with Sony’s “Be in the Band” search, which aims to find talented female musicians to form a girl group.
And Niall, 21, is also reportedly interested in launching a solo career, recently writing with singer Justin Bieber.
