Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter was found lying on a Manhattan sidewalk stabbed earlier Sunday morning, later passing away at the hospital.
But new strange details released by witnesses reveal that her ex-boyfriend was stabbing her while saying, “Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!” WTF?
An eyewitness named Brydon Tarafa said he was in his apartment when he heard screaming and someone yelling, “Jesus Christ is born”.
Police arrived on the scene to find 33-year-old E’Dena Hines unresponsive with stab wounds to her torso outside an apartment building just before 3 a.m.
Another witness called 911 after seeing the attack from his window, claiming the boyfriend was yelling, “Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!”.
Police discovered her ‘live-in boyfriend’ standing over her body screaming and the knife was recovered at the scene.
Authorities later took him to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
The man continued to stab Hines’ lifeless body until police arrested him.
He adds, “Maybe if I had gone to the window sooner and thought it was more of an emergency situation sooner, then maybe I could have called and the police could have gotten here faster”.
Hines is the granddaughter of Morgan Freeman’s first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw. She is sometimes referred as Freeman’s goddaughter in addition to his step-granddaughter.
E’Dena Hines was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital shortly after the stabbing.
Morgan Freeman reflected on Hines’s talent and said she would be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
He also posted to his Twitter on Sunday saying, “I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter E’Dena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace”.
