The convicted heroin dealer who Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter met on Tinder has been charged in connection with her disappearance.
Steve Sheerer, 25, was named as a suspect when police traced 17-year-old Chelsea O’Donnel to his home in Village Drive, Barnegat, New Jersey.
Police reviewed messages between the pair on Chelsea’s phone and Sheerer has been charged with third degree endangering a child and third degree distribution of obscenity to a minor. Each charge carries a five-year jail term.
Barnegat County Judge Phillip Miller stated that police ‘retrieved the 17 year old victim’s cell phone’ on Friday morning and found ‘evidence of inappropriate communications over the last several weeks between Sheerer and the minor.’
Police arrested Sheerer at around 8:30 p.m. and searched his home, taking a computer and other digital media.
On Saturday morning, Sheerer was charged with two crimes related to his role in Chelsea’s disappearance, both of which carry a five-year jail sentence.
Sheerer’s cash bail was set at $40,000. Philly.com reports that he was unable to post bond on Saturday.
Sheerer is banned from contacting the O’Donnell family.
Chelsea was missing a week, before being found at Sheerer’s home hiding in an attic with her dog.
