Dave Grohl is considered one of the nicest rock stars, but maybe because the singer deals with his own issues.
The Foo Fighters frontman revealed that he gets social anxiety when he is out of his comfort zone.
Grohl was asked how we felt about the upcoming Emmy Awards when he made the remarks.
He told Gold Derby in a video interview, “It’s just going to be such a crazy night, I just can’t imagine. I think I’ll feel like that kid who is the new kid at school, the first day at school. I’ll probably just sit down, with my back up against the wall, just nervous, and waiting to see who is going to want to talk to me.”
The singer said, “I have a little bit of social anxiety. It might seem hard to imagine, but in rooms like that, I kind of clam up. I mean, put me at the f****** Grammys, and I know everybody there, and I’ve got a bottle of whiskey in my hands the whole time, but we’ll see what happens.”
In the interview, Dave said he was really shocked by how his travelogue “Sonic Highways” was received by fans.
It recently picked up four Emmy nominations, including two for Grohl as producer and director.
He compared directing to writing songs, claiming that his lack of formal training or experience was actually beneficial.
Grohl said, “I don’t know specifically what I’m doing. I just do it as I imagine it should be done”.
The 46-year-old is still recovering from a broken leg he sustained when he fell off the stage during the second song of the group’s gig in Gothenburg in June.
