Demi Moore is in “absolute shock” after a 21-year-old man drowned in the swimming pool at her $7 million Beverly Hills home.
The 52-year-old actress was out of the country at the time of the tragic accident, but released a statement on the “unthinkable tragedy”.
Edenilson Steven Valle, 21, who couldn’t swim, is believed to have accidentally drowned and died at Moore’s residence at around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Demi’s family members were not present at the home when the body was discovered, authorities said.
Valle, a friend of one of Moore’s assistants, slipped and fell in the pool. No foul play is suspected. There was also said to be a ‘limited amount’ of alcohol involved.
The preliminary investigation indicates this was ‘just a tragic accident’, police said.
Moore’s assistant had thrown a party at the home with several guests, including the man who drowned, authorities said. The man was identified as Edenilson Steven Valle, of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Sgt. Barry Montgomery stated, “It appears he initially went unnoticed. This was 4:50 in the morning, this thing had winded down, and unfortunately this looks like an accident”.
Demi released a statement to People magazine, stating, “I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got this devastating news…The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”
