Will Poulter is set to play the evil clown in the remake of the awesome scary clown movie “It”.
The actor landed the much sought-after role of Pennywise, the villain who lured children disguised as a clown in Stephen King’s horror classic.
Variety reported that “True Detective” creator Cary Fukunaga will direct the production, which will be split into two horrifying feature films.
Fukunaga was reportedly blown away by the 22-year-old actor’s audition, after previously considering older actors such as Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn for the role.
The original “It” story followed a group of kids that felt like outcasts who came together over their summer break to try and investigate the monster haunting their town.
The director plans to stay to the 900-page novel, but will shoot one movie focusing on the protagonists as kids and another focusing on them all grown up to shorten the long story.
Will Poulter has also recently been cast to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in “The Revenant”.
