Model Chrissy Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend, shared a photo on Instagram earlier this month of her bruises and stretchmarks.
Fans showed support for the star, thanking her for showing a true portrayal of her body. Teigen appeared on Meredith Vieira’s show and explained her thought process behind the photo.
On Friday’s episode of Meredith Vieira, the 29-year-old model talked about the photo that shows her sitting cross-legged on her sofa, showing her bruises and stretchmarks on her upper thighs.
Teigen captioned the photo, “Bruises from bumping kitchen drawer handles for a week. Stretchies say hi!”

Another follower, emmalittle5, commented, “I have so much respect for you! I have stretchies too and I appreciate someone being real about them and acknowledging them thanks”.
Plenty of people have stretch marks or cellulite, but it’s rare for a celebrity to actually show their flaws.
Meredith asked the candid model about the viral photo in Friday’s interview.
Teigen explained, “I actually am working on a cookbook and I was bumping around in the kitchen and the door handle would just nick me every single time. And I was actually just taking a picture of the bruises and then I saw the stretch marks in there”.
The Sports Illustrated model continued, “And I have those apps, the Facetune and Photoshopping ones, and I just didn’t feel like doing it anymore – and I’m never doing it again, because I think we forget what normal people look like now.”
Chrissy continued to explain her motivation, explaining, “The standard is so ridiculous. I mean, people are nip-tucking [their pictures] . It’s gotten to a point where they’re not smoothing their skin anymore. They are actually changing the shape of their body and everybody else – nobody can compare to that when you’re fixing yourself so much. It’s so unfair”.
The Lip Sync Battle star then put out a plea to the audience, begging them to understand that not all celebrities look like their photos.
Chrissy said, “It started with Botox and everything, of course, but now it’s just grown into this Photoshop phenomenon and I’ve seen these women in person, they are not like that. Please know that. I’ve shot in barely anything with them and it’s just amazing what people do to tweak themselves.”
