Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced their split in March 2014, annoyingly referred to as “consciously uncoupling” by Gwynnie. Gag!
And now a year later the 42-year-old actress and 38-year-old Coldplay frontman are finally finalizing their divorce.
The documents to end their ten-year marriage have been filed and they have already signed off on all the terms.
Chris and Gwyneth have been using their business managers to work out a settlement agreement involving both property and custody. A judge is expected to sign off on the divorce very soon.
The settlement is confidential, but insiders claim there were no major issues between them on money or custody of their two children – daughter Apple, 10, and son Moses, 9.
In October 2002, Paltrow met Martin of the British rock group Coldplay backstage three weeks after the death of her father, Bruce Paltrow. They married on December 5, 2003 in a ceremony at a hotel in Southern California.
Martin has reportedly been dating Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence.
Paltrow has been dating Glee executive Brad Falchuk, 44.
In April 2014, Chris Martin told BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe that he had to work on himself. He said of their split, “I wouldn’t use the word breakdown. This was more a realization about trying to grow up basically… if you can’t open yourself up, you can’t appreciate the wonder inside. So you can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way”.
Martin continued, “What changed for me was, I don’t want to go through life being scared of it, being scared of love, being scared of rejection, being scared of failure… About two years ago I was a mess really because I can’t enjoy the thing that we are good at and I can’t enjoy the great things around me because I’m burdened by this – I’ve got to not blame anyone else and make some changes.”
Their split was announced on her website Goop.
