Suicide Squad director David Ayer tweeted the first official image of Jared Leto as a tatted-up Joker on Friday.
The 43-year-old Oscar winner flashes his silver-capped teeth and Joker ink, with the word “damaged” across Jared’s forehead.
Leto, who is known for his big commitment to movie roles to transform himself into characters, chopped off his beautiful long hair, shaved his beard, and his eyebrows.
The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman told Billboard in February, “The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character – that’s what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? [He’s] this beautiful disaster of a character – what a big challenge. I’m trying to gain a lot of weight. It means I have to eat every couple of hours – and I’m terrible at eating a lot.”
On April 9, Ayer tweeted a snap of Jared posing like Joker on the 1988 cover of DC Comics’ Batman: The Killing Joke.
Is this photo hinting at the plot of the movie?
Leto will be the fourth actor to play the role of The Joker on the big screen.
In 2008, the late Heath Ledger received a posthumous Oscar for his awesome rendition of the Joker in The Dark Knight.
Jack Nicholson spent two hours each day in the make-up chair to create his creepy grin. And of course, Cesar Romero played an awesome Joker.
