Angie Stone was arrested on Monday at her Georgia home after police received a 911 call from her adult daughter, Diamond Stone.
The singer, best known for Wish I Didn’t Miss You, Brotha, and No More Rain, reportedly hit her 30-year-old daughter with a metal stand during an argument.
Stone, who most recently appeared with other singers on TV One’s popular reality show, “R&B Divas: Atlanta,” was arrested in DeKalb County.
Stone, 53, and her daughter Diamond, 30, got into a heated argument when the singer came into her room and demanded she clean up and take care of her kids that were running around naked.
The police report stated, “Ms. Diamond Stone then went on to state that Ms. Angie Stone started [getting] in her face, telling her she needed to leave because she is tired [of] her. Ms. Diamond Stone then stated her and Ms. Angie Stone started to argue, and that’s when a physical altercation started to occur.”
Angie struck her daughter in the face and knocked two front teeth out with a metal stand.
The singer claimed her daughter Diamond who instigated the altercation by throwing the first punch. Angie told police she felt that she needed to protect herself via the use of a metal stand.
Both women were taken to DeKalb County Police Department but Diamond was later released with no charges.
Angie was charged with a felony count of aggravated domestic assault.
She earned Grammy nominations in 2003 -Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group for More Than a Woman with Joe – in 2004 – Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for U-Haul – and in 2008 – Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with with Betty Wright for Baby.
Stone was previously arrested for driving on a suspended license.
