The filming of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has been put on hold due to Johnny Depp’s hand injury while in Queensland.
The exact cause of Depp’s injury has oddly remained a mystery, but we are now hearing reports the actor was drunk and punched through a glass door after an argument over the phone with his wife, Amber Heard.
The 51-year-old star of the movie flew home to the United States on March 10 to have surgery on his hand.
Producers have had to scale back on shooting scenes, with at least 400 crew members being told they won’t be needed for at least another couple of weeks.
A source stated, “The film will be made and it will be made with Johnny. Everyone wants to get back to work as soon as possible.”
We normally hear details on a celebrity when they have injured, including just how it all went down.
One story is that Johnny snapped his wrist while go-karting on a private track at five-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan’s luxurious Coomera property on March 10.
Depp had been staying at Doohan’s waterfront mansion since he arrived on the Coast late last month.
Others reveal he “was on a bender” with friends and became enraged after having an argument on the phone with his wife.
The insider revealed, “He lashed out and hit a glass door and that’s how he hurt his hand and a couple of fingers.”
Depp, 51, returned to Los Angeles on March 11 to undergo surgery on his right hand , but the delay in production is also said to be for rehab treatment.
The handsome actor’s older sister and personal assistant Christi Dembrowski is reportedly caring for him while he undergoes an alleged ‘at-home rehab program’ to help kick his issues.
Johnny has a history of alcohol abuse and reportedly entered rehab last December following a relapse.
Johnny Depp talked to Rolling Stone magazine in 2013, insisting he doesn’t consider himself an alcoholic.
The actor said, “I don’t have the physical need for the drug alcohol. It’s more my medication, my self-medication over the years just to calm the circus. Once the circus kicks in, the festivities in the brain, it can be ruthless.”
He claimed he decided to stop drinking in 2012 because it got to the point where he no longer felt the enjoyment from it that he once did. He said, “I just decided that I pretty much got everything I could get out of it.”
Disney bosses convinced Depp into seeking help for his drinking so he could return to the Coast and resume work on the film.
