Rob Thomas announces tour dates

Rob Thomas has announced plans to release a solo album later this summer, but fans can hear songs on his The Great Unknown 2015 Tour.

The former Matchbox 20 singer posted a video and announced he will kick off his 37-city tour on June 11 in Ontario.

Thomas said, “I’ll be playing some of the new stuff, some of the old stuff — a little bit of everything”.

As frontman for Matchbox Twenty, Thomas has written and sung such hits as Push, Bent and If You’re Gone.

He has also had several hits as a solo act, including Lonely No More and This Is How a Heart Breaks.

Rob Thomas won three Grammys for his work as a vocalist and co-writer on Carlos Santana’s 1999 hit song, “Smooth”.

The Great Unknown will be Thomas’ third solo set, his first since 2009’s Cradlesong.

Plain White T’s, probably most remembered for their song “Hey There Delilah) will be special guests on The Great Unknown 2015 Tour, which will continue through Aug. 10.

Ticket pre-sales will begin Wednesday, and tickets will go on sale Friday and Saturday for most shows.
