Rapper Vanilla Ice, who is the host of the reality show The Vanilla Ice Project on the DIY Network, has been arrested for stealing furniture and other items from a home in the process of foreclosure in Florida.
The home is adjacent to a house the former Ice Ice Baby rapper is renovating, where several of the stolen items were recovered by police.
The 47-year-old, whose real name is Robert VanWinkle, met with police officers in Lantana on Wednesday to provide a sworn statement and was taken into custody.
In December, police investigated a burglary at a property which is currently in the process of foreclosure after items, including furniture, a pool heater and bicycles, were found to be missing.
Officers allegedly found some of the items in VanWinkle’s possession and they were returned to the owner. Police determined Vanilla Ice had played a part in the theft.
He was renovating a home for his television show, The Vanilla Ice Project, next door to the property at the time of the alleged theft.
VanWinkle is best known for his hit song “Ice Ice Baby,”which was released in 1990. He has hosted his home renovation show on the DIY Network since 2010.
He has been married to wife Laura since 1997 and they have two daughters together.
This isn’t the first time VanWinkle has been arrested. He was arrested and pleaded no contest in 1991 for threatening a homeless man with a gun.
A decade later, he was arrested by Florida police and spent a night in jail for assaulting his wife as they argued while driving.
He admitted that he had pulled her hair, but said it was to stop her from jumping out of their truck. He was sentenced to probation and attended family therapy sessions.
In 2008, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife again. The case was dropped two weeks later.
