Missy Elliott revealed she was overcome with joy after her Super Bowl performance with Katy Perry.
The 43-year-old rapper became emotional after all the messages of praise she received on Twitter after joining Katy Perry for the half-time show last night.
Elliott, who thrilled her fans by performing her hit songs ‘Get Ur Freak On’, ‘Work It,’ and ‘Lose Control’, with Katy, said she was so humbled by the warm reception.
She wrote on twitter, “‘Thank u all for the out pouring of love @ the SuperBowl! & @katyperry I’m humbly grateful for u inviting me to join u. I cried because I’ve been thru so much but I’m still here & thru the grace of God & u the fans believing in me I love y’all (sic)”
The rapper may have been referring to her battle with Graves, an autoimmune disease.
After retweeting a number of messages from fans, she later wrote, “Thank y’all again sorry if I keep saying thank u but I’m just crying tears of joy and humbled! (sic)”
Missy went on to praise Lenny Kravitz, who had also made an appearance during the show, performing ‘I Kissed a Girl’ with Katy Perry.
Elliott tweeted, “@LennyKravitz I love u 2! Your energy is everything! U slay Thank u @katyperry again I’m very humbled (sic)”
After the Super Bowl, which ended with the New England Patriots beating out the Seattle Seahawks, Missy joined Katy and John Mayer at an afterparty.
