The custom Calvin Klein gown that actress Lupita Nyong’o wore to the Academy Awards was stolen from her Hollywood hotel room.
The dress, valued at $150,000, featured 6,000 pearls.
Lupita wore the gorgeous gown to the 87th annual awards ceremony on Sunday, but it was stolen from her room at The London hotel in West Hollywood.
The actress told police it went missing sometime between 8am and 9pm on Tuesday while she was out. Police are reviewing surveillance footage in the area for clues.
The morning after the Oscars, Lupita shared a photo of her gorgeous accessories, writing, “That was cool! #Oscars 2015 #DiamondsAndPearls”.
The photo showed off the Chopard jewels and satin Nicholas Kirkwood heels with pearls, alongside a silver clutch.
Lupita’s gorgeous custom gown took months to create and was designed by Francisco Costa in collaboration with Nyong’o.
Francisco told Vogue of the beautiful dress, “[We created] a series of textures with intricate placements of a variety of different-sized pearls. We looked at a variety of different pearls—South Sea, iridescent, and natural—and decided that the natural pearls looked the most beautiful.”
Lupita returned to the Academy Awards after winning Best Supporting Actress last year for her role in 12 Years A Slave.
