Most people would be honored to have a song written about them, but cross a singer/songwriter and they may “Taylor Swift” you in a heartbeat.
Check out these popular songs that were inspired by celebrities, either from feuds or romances.

Dave Grohl explained previously, “I’ve seen people lose it all to drugs and heartbreak and death. It’s happened more than once in my life, but the one that’s most noted is Kurt. And there are a lot of people that I’ve been angry with in my life, but the one that’s most noted is Courtney. So it’s pretty obvious to me that those correlations are gonna pop up every now and again.”
The Foo Fighters single “I’ll Stick Around” is reportedly aimed at Courtney Love, with lyrics including – “How could it be I’m the only one who sees your rehearsed insanity”.
Gwen Stefani’s super-catchy tune “Hollaback Girl” is reportedly also aimed at Courtney Love (who clearly has tons of enemies and a big mouth).
Courtney referred to Gwen as a “cheerleader” in a Seventeen magazine interview, with Gwen hitting back with Hollaback Girl.
In April 2010, Love announced on Howard Stern’s radio show that she slept with Stefani’s husband, Gavin Rossdale, while the couple was dating. Love claims she and Rossdale were together for eight months, that “he was lovely,” they “had a really good time,” that he was also sleeping with “everyone … yeah … and a few other people,” and Stefani knew about it.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s estranged husband, Chris Martin of Coldplay, wrote the song “Fix You” after her father passed away while she was celebrating her birthday. Martin was said to be trying to ease her pain and cope with his death.
INXS former frontman, the late Michael Hutchence, wrote the song “Suicide Blonde” about Australian pop star, Kylie Minogue.
Sheryl Crow has never revealed just who her beautiful song, “My Favorite Mistake”, is about. Most signs point to her affair with rocker Eric Clapton.
311’s Nick Hexum previously dated singer Nicole Scherzinger, who inspired their hit song “Amber”.
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson got into a fight after Trent produced “Antichrist Superstar”, which ended with Trent writing “Starf—ers, Inc.”
They eventually made up and Manson even appeared in the song’s video.
