Filmmaker Tim Burton and actress Helena Bonham Carter have split after 13 years together.
The couple’s rep confirmed that Burton and Carter had called it quits, after 13 years and two children together.
Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton never were married, but always appeared to be made for one another.
The 48-year-old actress and the 56-year-old director’s rep said in a statement that the couple “separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children. We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time.”
They were last pictured together in November at London’s Winter Wonderland with their children, 11-year-old son Billy and daughter Nell, aged seven.
The couple first met in 2001 when he directed her in Planet Of The Apes. They went on to work together on 2005’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, 2007’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, 2010’s Alice In Wonderland and 2012’s Dark Shadows.
They had a very unconventional relationship, living in two neighboring houses joined by a communal room. We actually think that sounds ideal!
The report of their split comes a year after the British director was photographed getting close to another woman after movie date in Hampstead, London in September 2013.
Helena slammed the cheating allegations at the time, saying, “This is absolute nonsense. The pictures were taken whilst they were out and the large group includes family, friends and work colleagues.”
Tim previously admitted they had a turbulent relationship on set, especially during the making of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in 2007.
He said, “We’ve survived [as a couple] , but it hasn’t always been easy. Sweeney Todd was the worst; definitely the worst. But then I found out she was pregnant with Nell and it kind of all made sense.”
This year Helena has been busy filming Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. Her co-stars are Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway. The fantasy adventure is due for a May 27, 2016 release date.
