There are reports that “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars Joe and Teresa Giudice’s home was raided after failing to pay their restitution payment.
Officials reportedly seized property, which included Christmas gifts for their two daughters. But is it true?
Radar Online reports, “Teresa was home and was absolutely stunned by the raid. She had no clue they were coming. She was absolutely hysterical, and begging them not to take the girls’ Christmas presents.”
All About the Tea, the first to report the story, quoted another source who said the girls arrived home from school in the midst of incident and Teresa told them the feds “are here to help mommy and daddy get ready for the garage sale.”
The agents reportedly discovered “a large amount of cash” stashed away in the wine cellar.
Feds also are said to have taken expensive jewelry and plasma televisions.
Teresa and Joe Giucide had failed to set up a plan to pay back their outstanding $214,000 in restitution.
An insider stated, “The property will now be auctioned off with the money going into a trust account. If there is any money left over, it would go to paying creditors in their bankruptcy, in which they owe $14.3 million. This all could have been avoided if Teresa had simply submitted a proposed plan to pay off the restitution. Yet, Teresa chose to once again thumb her nose at the law, and was ignoring it… She is absolutely devastated that there won’t be any Christmas presents for their girls.”
Matt Reilly, the U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman, says his office is continuing to work with the couple to schedule repayment and has not ordered any such seizure.
Reilly stated, “Anyone went over there under official capacity, it would be under us”.
Teresa is set to report to federal prison Jan. 5 for her 15-month sentence, while Joe will serve his 41-month sentence after she is released. He faces deportation following his release because he is not a United States citizen.
