Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello got engaged in Hawaii over the Christmas holidays, after dating for six months.
It may seem a little impulsive, but Manganiello had already been planning his proposal for weeks now.
Vergara ended her engagement to Nick Loeb in May, but the 42-year-old beauty didn’t hesitate to accept Joe’s proposal.
An insider revealed, “This wasn’t spontaneous. Joe definitely planned ahead and contacted the hotel weeks in advance to discuss certain things he wanted to do.”
It may seem the couple are moving a little too fast, but as they say…”when you know, you know!”
Joe, 38, apparently knew she was “the one” for him and popped the question to Sofia on the island of Kauai at the St Regis Hotel in Princeville.
The “True Blood” hunk proposed in their suite at sunset with champagne.
The insider said that Joe was “nervous the proposal wouldn’t go well”, adding, “He said this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with a one-in-a-million woman.”
Sofia and Joe were reportedly introduced at the White House Correspondents Dinner in May, when Vergara was dating Nick Loeb.
A source close to “Magic Mike” star Joe said, “Sofia is Joe’s dream girl! He’s been smitten with her for years. He’s always had a huge crush on her. Things are going well for them so far.”
Manganiello previously dated model Bridget Peters, but they split sometime after January. He was also engaged to model-actress Audra Marie in 2010.
Sofia’s former fiance Nick Loeb said of her engagement news, “She is beautiful and majestic and therefore to be loved. Beyond all else in life she deserves happiness, the kind that only true love can bring.”
Vergara was married from 1991 to Sofia was her son Manolo, 21, who she had with ex-husband Joe Gonzalez. The two were wed from 1991 to 1993.
