Edward Herrmann, best known for his role on Gilmore Girls and one of our favorite movies Lost Boys, has died at the age of 71.
The actor passed away on Wednesday in a New York hospital, following his battle with brain cancer.
Herrmann’s family made the difficult decision to remove him from life support after nearly four weeks in intensive care, showing no signs of improvement.
Herrmann played Richard Gilmore, the father of Lorelai (played by Lauren Graham), on the television series Gilmore Girls from 2000 to 2007.
Edward won an Emmy for outstanding guest actor in a drama series for his role as Atty. Anderson Pearson in The Practice.
He earned five Emmy nominations throughout his career, including two in the 1970s for his portrayal of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the TV movies Eleanor and Franklin and Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years.
He had a reoccurring role in The Good Wife as an attorney, Lionel Deerfield,from 2010 to 2013.
Edward Herrmann played the role of Max, the head vampire, in the 1987 movie The Lost Boys. One of our personal favorites!
