Angelina Jolie was in a rather scary car accident on Sunday, when two tires on the vehicle she was traveling in exploded after the car skidded on the wet road and hit a curb.
Eyewitnesses said the car slammed into the curb at a significant speed, but thankfully no one was badly injured.
Angelina was being chauffeured back to her Los Angeles home after the screening of “Unbroken”, a movie she directed.
After the screening at the Writers’ Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, the black SUV she was riding in “took off rather quickly” and skidded on the wet road and struck the curb.
An eyewitness revealed, “The car slammed into the curb at a significant speed. Angelina must have wondered if they hit another car. It was pretty bad — the tire exploded and it’s amazing nothing worse happened to the car. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has whiplash.”
Jolie reportedly did not receive medical attention at the scene and was picked up by another driver in a second hired car shortly after the accident.
Police were called to report that Angelina’s camp was being harassed by the paparazzi. Maybe that is what caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control?
Prior to the crash, Jolie walked the red carpet prior to the screening of her new film, which is due out on Christmas day.
The film is based on the best-selling book “Unbroken” written by Laura Hillenbrad.
The movie chronicles the life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was captured by Japanese forces during World War II and spent two years as a prisoner of war.
Angelina and Brad Pitt’s children have seen the movie and think Zamperini, who died at the age of 97 last July, was a hero.
She said, “This man’s life is about forgiveness and unity. My own children have watched it and they walked out of it and thought he was a hero.”
