Jay Leno is known for being a comedian and former host of the “Tonight Show”, but he also loves cars and our country.
Jay wanted to show his appreciation to a veteran that was injured in Afghanistan in a huge way.
Jay had the opportunity to meet with veterans, including Corporal Ethan Laberge.
Laberge had been on foot patrol in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber drove up and detonated himself, killing two soldiers and seriously injuring Leberge.
He was lucky to be alive but was hit with shrapnel in his legs and arms, also suffering a traumatic brain injury that left him with memory problems.
Jay chatted with Ethan and bonded over their love of cars.
Leno gave Ethan a ride in a cherry red 2015 Dodge SRT Hellcat, later letting him take the wheel.
They took a little joyride before chowing down on some barbeque and talking.
Leno asked about Laberge’s injuries and he admitted, “Where I’m sitting now, I don’t know exactly how well I’ll recover”.
They guys returned back to post, where Leno had one hell of a surprise for the soldier.
Lethan said of the Hellcat, “That was awesome… I wouldn’t mind having one of these.”
Jay then handed Ethan the keys, saying, “It’s yours. America loves you. Thank you buddy. Have a lot of fun. Don’t get any tickets.”
“I can’t promise that,” replied with a big smile on his face.
