Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka are set to make guest appearances on the new season of “American Horror Story”.
The couple will star in the final episodes of Freak Show, capping off the fourth season of the FX series.
Harris, 41, who can currently be seen on the big screen in the thrilled flick “Gone Girl”, will play the role of a chameleon salesman in the last two episodes.
His hubby David, 39, gets to star in a racy storyline in the season finale with Jessica Lange who plays Elsa Mars, the owner of a carnival freak show set in 1950s Florida.
Neil Patrick Harris is a huge fan of the show and was invited on set back in August by the show co-creator Ryan Murphy.
Murphy told TVLine of Harris’ upcoming appearance, “He had very specific ideas for what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so we’re working on melding those.”
The “How I Met Your Mother” star won an Emmy award in 2010 for an appearance on “Glee”, which Murphy also produces.
Harris will be hosting a new NBC variety show, featuring live comedy skits, musical numbers, game shows and hidden camera pranks on celebrities.
He was also named as host of the 2015 Oscars.
Neil said he wants to keep the Oscars in February “classy”.
He said, “I don’t want them to be super derivative of other shows that I’ve done. I don’t want it to seem like I’m doing the same award hosting gig that I did on the Tonys, just now on a different stage… I want to also just make sure that it’s a classy event. I’ve always loved the Oscars and have great respect for its history, and the gowns, and the classiness of it”.
