Kesha, 27, is suing her long-term music producer and mentor Dr. Luke for sexual, physical, verbal, and emotional abuse!
The singer launched a lawsuit against Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, who gave her a record deal at age 18.
In a lawsuit filed by Kesha, whose real name is Kesha Rose Serbert, she claims she was abused sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused by the 41-year-old producer over a period of 10 years.
She claims that the alleged abuse started early on when she signed her deal with Dr. Luke, who is known for producing some of the biggest hits in pop music for other singers such as Katy Perry and Britney Spears.
Her lawsuit alleges that Dr. Luke made “repeated sexual advances” and would ply her with drugs and alcohol.
The lawsuit comes after Kesha was sent to rehab earlier this year for a reported eating disorder, which the lawsuit claims was caused by the abuse.
It was claimed that the singer’s eating disorder was caused by the producer, who told her she “looks like a fu**ing refrigerator”.
Kesha has hinted at a fall out with the producer before when she told her Twitter followers that she never wanted to record or release their hit song “Die Young”, which was pulled from radio station after the devastating Sandy Hook shooting took place.
Dr. Luke has produced all of Kesha’s hit songs including Your Love is My Drug, Tik Tok, and We R Who We R.
Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, said in a statement, “This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke.
“The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time.”
Dr. Luke was nominated for a Grammy Award for Producer of the Year at the 53rd Grammy Awards for his work on Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream album.
The producer has now filed his own lawsuit against Kesha, claiming she is “lying to get out of her legally binding contract”.
He also stated that Kesha’s suit has been “engineered”by her mother Pebe Servert and Kesha’s new management company. Luke also said her team have tried to extort him by threatening to “spread lies” unless he released her from her contract.
