Elizabeth Norment has died at age 61.
The actress, who is best known for playing Nancy Kaufberger, Frank Underwood’s (Kevin Spacey) long suffering secretary on “House Of Cards”, passed away on October 13 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Her character on the series worked for Underwood from the time he was a member of the House of Representatives from South Carolina through his upward political climb.
“House of Cards” showrunner Beau Willimon said in a statement, “Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth’s passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all”.
The Washington D.C. native studied at the Yale School of Drama and received her master’s degree from the institution in 1979.
She has appeared on television shows such as “ER”, “Mad About You”, and “House of Cards”. She portrayed Eunice Kennedy in a 1985 CBS miniseries entitled “Robert Kennedy and His Times”.
She also appeared on the big screen in movies including, “The Woman in Red” (1984) and “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” (1997).
Elizabeth Norment is survived by her mom Nancy, sisters Kate, Sarah and Martha, her brother Clarence, as well as six nieces and nephews.
