What happened to Mariah Carey's singing voice?

Mariah Carey kicked off her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour in Tokyo on Saturday night, but things are off to a rocky start.

Carey appeared to have trouble hitting the notes and appeared to forget her lyrics. What’s going on with Mariah?

The 44-year-old singer recently split from her husband, Nick Cannon, with rumors she was having a rough time.

Her voice is certainly not the same and it was sad watching the videos of her struggling to belt out her songs.

 


On Twitter user, Elle, wrote, “It’s a wrap for Mariah Carey’s singing career. You’re a legend. Time to retire. She can’t sing anymore. At all. What happened?”

Another user that goes by the name Peaches & Herb tweeted, “Y’all. Mariah Carey really can’t sing anymore. That was hard to listen to”.

People that spent money to see the diva singer were probably disappointed. The music legend struggled to get through some of her hit songs including the Grammy-winning single “Vision of Love” on Saturday.

Several people posted videos from the show on Instagram and the comments were scathing.

Fans quickly ripped the performance with such comments including, “She is duuuun.”

Another person wrote, “No no no!!!!!! Why Mariah why????”

A representative for the star claims they’ve only received good reviews from people who attended the opening show.

A spokesperson said, “The comments we have heard from the fans have been great!”

Mariah Carey's voice is pretty sad

Mariah’s performance comes just weeks after she split from her husband Nick Cannon, whom she married in 2008. They have three-year-old twins, daughter Monroe and son Moroccan.

There were rumors that Mariah was unraveling after their split and drinking champagne all day.  Is she losing it?

Mariah will tour through Asia in the month of October before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

The pop diva’s tour follows the May release of her album, “Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse.”

The album sold just 57,000 copies in its first week.
