Troubled former actress Amanda Bynes was committed to a psychiatric hospital on Friday night after flying in to LAX, after going into a rapid downward spiral with her mental health.
Bynes is having a tough time accepting the help she needs.
An insider said, “Amanda is having a tough time adjusting to being in treatment again. However, the facility she is in is truly first class and it will be a calming environment to deal with her issues out of the spotlight”.
The troubled former child star is currently on a 72 hour hold at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, CA.
The hospitalization and 5150 hold came after Bynes publicly accused her father Rick Bynes of child abuse.
Before she was committed, the 28-year-old actress removed the allegations she made against her father on Twitter.
A source revealed, “In a rare moment of clarity before Amanda became a patient at the mental health facility in Pasadena, she actually deleted the posts on Twitter accusing her father of sexually abusing her. No one else but Amanda did it.”
Amanda’s parents were spotted arriving to see their daughter on Saturday.
The former Nickelodeon star is currently being held under section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, which enables mentally ill people who are classified as a danger to themselves or others be taken in against their will.
On Saturday, it was revealed that Amanda’s claims that she was getting married to aspiring actor Caleb Pusey were false.
Bynes shocked everyone when she announced her engagement on Twitter last Wednesday. She tweeted, “I am getting married and my boyfriend and I are going to be on the cover (sic) People magazine.”
The 19-year-old named Caleb admits he did meet Amanda in rehab, but that they had never dated.
Amanda reportedly spoke to a reporter with In Touch, saying, “I am very needy for friendship and I hate men. I want to f*** them, but I can now say I’m engaged. I want to be married and I want to be away from people.”
Bynes said she wasn’t only engaged, but also ready to have children. She said, “I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out”.
Amanda Bynes shot to fame at the age of 10 in 1996 with her role in the hit television show “All That” and Nickelodeon’s “Figure It Out”. She landed her own sketch show at the age of 13, called “The Amanda Show”.
In 2010 at the age of 24, she announced she was retiring from acting and appeared in a racy photo shoot for Maxim magazine. She was said to be trying to move on from her child-star image.
In the following four years, she was arrested for DUI, accused of crashing into a police car and another motorist, pictured taking drugs, banned from several establishments for ‘erratic behavior’, and in 2013 placed in involuntary psychiatric care.
We are all hoping that Amanda can get her life back on track. Her parents will seek a conservatorship after she is treated in the hospital. We doubt they will let it end too prematurely this time around.
