Dave Haywood and wife Kelli Cashiola Haywood welcomed their first child on Sunday, Sept. 7 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The new parents named their son Cash Van Haywood, according to the birth announcement.
The Lady Antebellum guitarist, 32, made the big announcement on the band’s Twitter account.
They wrote, “So happy to have a healthy baby boy here with us! Cash Van Haywood was born last night. Mom and Dad are doing great and couldn’t be happier!”
The baby boy weighed in at 7 lbs. and measures 19 inches long.
The band’s rep explained the name choice, saying, “Cash is taken from Kelli’s maiden name Cashiola and Van is Dave’s father’s name”.
The guitarist admitted he and his record exec wife of two years have been gearing up for their son’s arrival, even getting in some diapering skills practice on bandmate Hillary Scott‘s 13-month-old, Eisele Kaye.
Haywood said, “We’ve been trying to read and prepare and talk and think through every scenario for the delivery and the labor and how we want to try to be as parents. We know when the moment happens, all hell is going to break loose.”
The happy arrival came a little earlier than expected, which cause the band to have to cancel their show on Sunday at Allegan County Fair in Michigan.
Haywood now has a few weeks off to bond with his baby boy before the trio head to their next show in the Dominican Republic on Sept. 28.
Lady Antebellum will be launching their new album, 747, at the end of September.
