Chris Brown was hosting the bash when shots rang out, leaving three people injured.
Witnesses said Chris, 25, appeared to be the target of the shooting but he isn’t believed to be injured.
Three other victims, including Death Row Records founder Marion ‘Suge’ Knight, 49, were rushed to Cedars Sinai hospital. One of them was said to be in a critical condition.
Model and actor Tyson Beckford and Black Eyed Peas member Apple de Ap were inside the pre-VMA party hosted by Brown, revealing they heard four shots at around 1:30 a.m.
Others also believed the singer and Justin Bieber were the targets.
Chloe Loyd, Australia’s “Next Top Model” finalisted tweeted, “Me and @MOANNN sort refuge in a toilet cubicle as rifles targeted Chris brown & bieber outside. #usa. Yeh mate you can’t drink when you’re 21 but own a gun and do drugs at 18 please. #usapolitics #joke.”
Suge was originally said to be shot twice, but later reports confirmed he was shot six times. Knight was said to have walked out of the club, where he was spotted by a police officer and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The suspected gunmen were taken into custody and officers questioned party guests about the incident.
In the moments after the shots were fired, Chris Brown climbed onto a bar in the club and was freaking out. A bouncer at the club told everyone to “Get down”.
At around 5:45 a.m. LA time, Brown tweeted about the incident. He wrote, “It’s disappointing that we as a society can#t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bullsh*t!!!”
Suge Knight is no stranger to shootings. His pal Tupac Shakur was shot multiple times during a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in September 1996.
Knight also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during a shooting at a 2005 pre-VMA party, hosted by rapper Kanye West.
Last night’s party at the club was an event held just before tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards.
