Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum have become parents for the third time.
The Foo Fighters frontman is now father to three girls, after welcoming daughter Ophelia on August 1.
Grohl, 45, and his wife of 11 years are already parents to two girls -Violet Maye, eight and five-year-old Harper Willow.
The news of baby Ophelia’s birth comes just days after the death of Dave’s father, James Grohl, who passed away a long-term illness on August 6.
A post on The David Grohl Alley Scholarship Program’s Facebook Page from August 8 states, “Bittersweet news – congratulations David Grohl and Jordyn Blum who have welcomed a new baby girl #3 Ophelia Grohl! The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away!!”
The name of their baby girl is often associated with the tragic Danish heroine in Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. Ophelia is derived from the Greek work ophelos, meaning “help”.
Grohl is currently directing the HBO documentary “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways”, which is set to air in October.
The new series will feature the group recording one song in eight cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
The Foo Fighters are working on their the follow-up album to 2011’s Wasting Light, which won five Grammys in 2012, including best rock album.
