Dave Legeno has died at the age of 50 while hiking in Death Valley in California.
The British actor, who portrayed werewolf Fenrir Greyback in three of the “Harry Potter” films, was found by two hikers in the area.
Legeno’s body was found by hikers and it’s believed he had been dead for three or four days before his body was discovered. A helicopter had to be called in to retrieve the body.
The Inyo County Sheriff’s Department in California stated he may have died of heat-related issues. Temperatures in Death Valley are known to reach over 120 degrees.
The Mixed Marital Arts star leaves behind a daughter Wendy, who is believed to be in her 20s.
Legeno was versed many combat styles including boxing, wrestling, judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. He began his professional MMA career at the age of forty-two at Cage Rage 14. His wrestling nickname was Lone Wolf.
Dave’s first major film role was in Guy Richie’s 2000 movie “Snatch” as John, opposite Brad Pitt and Vinnie Jones.
He went on to have roles in “Batman Begins”, “Elizabeth: The Golden Age”, werewolf Fenrir Greyback in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”, as well as it’s preceding and final two films, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2”. He also lent his voice to the videogame The Getaway: Black Monday.
