The Dream’s ex-girlfriend, Lydia Nam, claims he assaulted her and threatened to kill her “like O.J. Simpson killed Nicole Brown”.
Terius Nash, a 36-year-old music producer known as The-Dream, surrendered to police on Wednesday.
Lydia Nam, 29, claimed she was pregnant with The Dream’s fifth child (their first together) during the time of the assault On April 4, 2012 at the Plaza Hotel.
The strange part is that Lydia didn’t report the attack until this past November, claiming the delay was caused by fearing for her life.
Lydia claims Terius Nash pulled and dragged her by her hair, choked her with a necklace she was wearing by twisting it tightly around her neck, kicked and punched her in the head and then grabbed her by the neck, pinning her to the wall and choking her again.
Nam tried to call 911 on her phone, but he twisted her arm back and told her he would “kill her like O.J. Simpson killed Nicole Brown”.
The music producer was arraigned Wednesday night in Manhattan Criminal Court and charged with assault, strangulation, harassment and reckless endangerment.
Nash walked out of court after posting $20,000 cash bail.
The-Dream claims his former girlfriend has falsely accused him of beating her so she can avoid being deported back to Canada.
He claims Nam is lying to take advantage of a visa concession that allows crime victims to remain in the country if they are needed to testify in a prosecution.
The Dream, who has worked with Britney Spears, Rihanna, and many other huge stars, stated as he left the court room, “I have nothing to say. It’ll all come out. There are worse things in the world going on”.
