What is up with James Franco? The actor can’t seem to stop posting Instagram selfies, some of which are pretty risque.
Franco posted a picture on Thursday night that shows him standing in front of a bathroom mirror in just his undies, with his hand down his pants. WTF?
James, who admits being addicted to selfies and social media, could be doing some social experiment. Who knows with him?
But even he might have realized he’d gone too far with that photo, taking it down hours later.
The image comes as the star once again addressed an incident last month when the actor found himself in hot water after attempting to pick up a young fan via Instagram.
He later apologized but on Wednesday, James told Howard Stern on his radio show that he had been a gentleman.
Franco explained, “[The media] make it out like I am pursuing young women,” Franco told Stern. “I’m not going to high schools, you know, looking for dates. I’m leaving my work and they’re coming there. So, I’m seeing attractive women. And, look, my fan base is, like, 17-year-old girls … to, you know, 30-year-old women. That’s my biggest fan base.”
“I saw her and she’s saying on her page, ‘Oh, I love James Franco,’ blah blah blah blah blah,” he continued. “Okay, well, you look interesting. I don’t know how old you are. I was a gentleman. I said, ‘Do you have a boyfriend?’ And her response was, ‘Not when you’re around.’ And that to me sounds like, okay, she’s interested. If I talk too much about it it’s gonna be in the Clinton area of, like, ‘Oh, this is what he said’ and ‘What a scumbag’ and blah blah blah. So, I’m reluctant to get into the details of it.”
The actor went on to say he doesn’t think the teen posted it knowing the frenzy that would ensue. He believes she just posted it for her friends to see.
“My sense is it turned, like, bad on her,” he added. “And now people wanna say, like, I victim-bashed her or something. Like, how is she a victim? I was, like anybody, just trying to meet somebody. It’s just that my dirty s–t gets put out internationally.”
After the embarrassing incident, James has continued to post selfies including one where he appeared to be naked in bed but has a sheet draped across him last week.
Taking inspiration from sexting, James captioned the picture, “WTF HAPPENED? I was waiting for you!!!!!”
He has also enlisted pal Keegan Allen for another “bed selfie” in which the two men snuggled up under a blanket.
Franco explained his selfies as “kind of intimate portrait” of himself and to get people talking.
He said, “It’s not like I’m exposing myself or anything”. He adds, “it’s almost like it’s connected to you” and that by putting “that intimate space out there it’s kind of this new thing that we’re all getting used to”.
