Robin Williams, dressed in drag, was everyone’s favorite nanny.
Now 20 years after the hit film, Fox 2000 is gearing up for a sequel with its original star, Robin Williams.
In the original film, the comedian played a recently divorced actor who transformed himself into a Scottish housekeeper called Euphegenia Doubtfire so that he could see more of his three young children.
Robin starred alongside Sally Field, Mara Wilson, Lisa Jakub, Pierce Brosnan and Matthew Lawrence.
After news of the sequel broke, Mara Wilson that played daughter Natalie tweeted that she wouldn’t be a part of a “Mrs. Doubtfire 2”.
Wilson tweeted, “I’ve been in some mediocre movies, but I’ve never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now”.
She added, “Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end”.
Mara later clarified, “I’m glad I had the chance to be in it, and I’m proud of what we did, but I don’t see how we could do it again. There are many, many reasons I don’t want to be in Mrs. Doubtfire 2. But they haven’t even asked me (yet), so no need to worry.”
Robin Williams’ drama “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn” comes out May 23. He is also starring in a CBS sitcom called “The Crazy Ones”.
Will the sequel actually come to fruition? In the words of Mrs. Doubtfire, ” We’ll have to wait and see, dear”.
