Selena Gomez has had her career managed by her mother Mandy Teefey and her stepfather Brian since her big break on Disney’s “Wizards of Waverly Place”, but Selena is ready for an experienced professional.
The 21-year-old singer/actress severed professional ties to her parents last month and the move is permanent.
Selena has reportedly argued with Mandy and Brian over the direction of career, but that is not believed to be the reason for hiring a new professional manager.
Gomez’s parents are thrilled with her decision but continue to remain close and support her.
It’s rather interesting that her decision comes on the heels of reuniting with her bad-boy boyfriend Justin Bieber.
Her parents were said to be “vehemently opposed” to the reunion.
Selena’s mother and stepfather, Brian Teefey feel that the young couple’s split led to Selena’s rehab stint.
An insider said, “They’re doing their best to supervise them. They don’t have any control over her. She’s pulling the, ‘Who makes the money around here?’ card.”
Just days ago, Justin Bieber posted a cryptic tweet from the recording studio that appeared to be aimed at Selena Gomez.
He tweeted, “Maybe she’s just too high maintenance”.
But Selena was photographed visiting the Biebs at the Miami recording studio on Wednesday.
