Standup comedian John Pinette, who may be best known for his role on the “Seinfeld” finale that was mugged, was found dead in his hotel room in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Pinette reportedly died at around 2:30 on Saturday at the age of 50.
The comedian had been under the care of a doctor, suffering from heart and liver problems.
The medical examiner’s office in Allegheny County spoke to Pinette’s doctor and did not perform at autopsy. He passed away in his Sheraton Hotel room and foul play is not suspected.
Pinette’s manager, Larry Schapiro, stated that the comedian had died from a pulmonary embolism.
In August 2013, Pinette checked himself into rehab after becoming addicted to prescription medication.
Pinette was featured as the mugging victim in the final “Seinfeld” show. He also starred in the movie “The Punisher” in 2004 and in “The Last Godfather” in 2010.
