Ratt Frontman Stephen Pearcy Quits: Band Members At Odds

Ratt at odds over singer's departure

Vocalist and founding member of Ratt, Stephen Pearcy, quit the band saying that he is “officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans”.

The band were forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at the Monsters of Rock Cruise alongside Tesla, Winger, Cinderella and Slaughter, after the sudden death of Pearcy’s sister in late March.  Now the band members appear to be at each other’s throats!

Pearcy released a statement saying “After thirty years creating the band Ratt and losing a real brother, Robbin (late Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby – who died from a heroin overdose in 2002), it’s time that I personally part ways with the band. I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans”.

RATT pulled out of the Monsters of Rock Cruise when Stephen’s sister passed away.

The band issued a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened to report that Stephen Pearcy‘s sister has passed away,” the band said in an official statement. “Due to this sudden and unexpected news, RATT will not be performing on the Monsters Of Rock cruise. We would like to thank all our loyal fans for their continued support and understanding. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Stephen and his family. We ask that you kindly respect Stephen’s privacy during this difficult time.”

“I’m very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes. I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last thirty years.

“With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long. I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows. See you out there”.

This isn’t the first time that Pearcy has quit the band. He previously left the band in 1992 to form the band Arcade with former Cinderella drummer Fred Coury before rejoining Ratt again in 1997, only to leave the band for a second time in 2000 on the eve of the bands tour citing differences over financial allocation amongst band members as the reason for the split.

He returned to Ratt again in 2007 when the band toured with Poison.

RATT ranked on the Billboard charts throughout the ’80s for their hits “Round and Round” and “Lay It Down.”

Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer just announced he’s closing down his Facebook.com account following bandmate Stephen Pearcy’s decision to quit the group. He said he is sick of reading vitriol from fans of his former frontman.

Blotzer is battling health woes after neck surgery in 2013, admits he and the existing Ratt line-up have been bombarded with attacks on social media.

The drummer says, “It’s time to shut the f**k up… We, the four other guys in this band, did nothing to merit this whole behavior from Stephen.”

He did admit the comments he made on Facebook about Pearcy earlier this month may have led to the singer making the decision to leave the band. He now feels bad for airing the band’s “dirty laundry” to the public.

Blotzer had posted a comment on a picture uploaded by U.S. reality Tv villain ‘Evel DICk’ Donato, which featured the Big Brother winner sporting cuts and bruises on his face. It read: “Why can’t this happen to my singer?”

The drummer says, “I feel bad that I might have put a dividing line out here, and for that I’m feeling bad about it, and to a certain level feel the need to apologise… My words were true, but the words should have stayed in my mind. And again I state that I was only kidding about this picture thing with Steve, dumb joke.”
