Reality star Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West are set to wed in Los Angeles this week, before having a lavish ceremony in Paris next month.
The couple reportedly obtained a “confidential” marriage license and will tie the knot in a courthouse wedding.
The couple, who are planning an extravagant ceremony in Paris, France, in May, will first say “I do” this week.
Kim and Kanye will be walking down the aisle in a courthouse wedding in Los Angeles, but will celebrate with a bash after the ceremony.
The wedding comes after the rapper proposed last October, just four months after Kim gave birth to their daughter North West.
The LA wedding reportedly was decided upon after their lawyers suggested they marry in the United States to avoid any legal issues.
A source said, “Typically, the U.S. recognizes citizens getting married in France, but dealing with a foreign government and paperwork could be a nightmare. So just to make sure it’s legal, Kim and Kanye will first be having a civil ceremony in Southern California.”
The couple’s Paris wedding hit a snag after they discovered that French law requires at least one of them to remain in France for at least 40 days before the wedding. The rapper does have an apartment in Paris, but its not his primary residence.
Their main wedding, which will reportedly be held at Louis XIV-commissioned Chateau de Louveciennes, is expected to be an over-the-top affair.
Kim previously stated that she wanted a more intimate wedding, but this will be the first marriage for Kanye West. We imagine he will spare no expense for his big day.
