James Franco has been been performing on Broadway in “Of Mice And Men” alongside Chris O’Dowd.
It appears Franco wasn’t very happy with the Times’ Ben Brantley’s review, labeling him a “little bi*ch” on Instagram.
The show opened Wednesday night on Broadway, with Franco starring as George opposite O’’Dowd’s Lennie.
James must have spent Thursday morning reading over the show’s reviews, which apparently included Ben Brantley’s critique.
The Hollywood heartthrob and Irish actor Chris O’Dowd were hailed by critics after their opening night performance in the Broadway revival of the John Steinbeck classic.
The 35-year-old actor plays the sharp but uneducated George in the American classic set during the Great Depression.
Variety said Franco delivered “a performance that’s equally honest and beautifully crafted”.
Not all the reviews praised Franco’s performance. Brantley complimented Franco’s talent, but did have a few unfavorable things to say.
Brantley stated, “Though he sports a Yosemite Sam accent, Mr. Franco is often understated to the point of near invisibility. It’s a tight, internal performance begging for a camera’s close-up.”
Although the review wasn’t too harsh, James seemed to feel it was less than a glowing review of his performance.
Franco posted a photo this morning with a caption that promoted Variety’s favorable review, but insulted Brantley.
The actor called the writer a “little bitch” and claimed “the theater community hates him”.
Franco has since taken down the post, but the original screenshot was captured and posted online.
