George Clooney’s proposal to lawyer Amal Alamuddin definitely wasn’t done on a whim, with the 52-year-old actor handpicking the ethically mined seven-carat, emerald-cut diamond he used to propose.
The handsome actor’s fiancee Amal Alamuddin showed off her giant rock at Rande Gerber’s 52nd birthday dinner over the weekend.
Clooney presented the brunette beauty, 36, with the large diamond set in platinum that features two baguettes on each side.
A pal of Cloooney’s revealed the “Out Of Sight” star got down on one knee to ask Amal for her hand in marriage.
Another friend adds, “Amal seems to be the best fit for him he’s ever had in a partner.”
It doesn’t appear that Clooney and Alamuddin will have a long engagement. Sources reveal the wedding could be as soon as September.
In March, George traveled to Dubai to meet Amal’s Lebanese family. Her mother is Baria, an editor at Arabic paper Al-Hayat, and her father is Ramzi, a retired travel agency owner.
He also took Amal’s sister Tala and her half brothers Samer and Ziad on a 48-hour yachting excursion.
A source close to George Clooney said, “He waited until he was in the right space to meet the right woman. He has matured and evolved, and he has found someone who can keep up with him”.
Amal Alamuddin is described as “the right mixture of someone who takes her work seriously but doesn’t take herself too seriously. It helps too that Amal seems to have no interest in a Hollywood life in the spotlight”.
It’s great Clooney found the right woman for him. Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall and hear what Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler had to say about his engagement?
