Amanda Bynes’ mother, Lynn Bynes, wants to set the record straight on all the rumors that were going around the past couple of years.
Bynes explained that her daughter was not suffering from any mental illness, blaming her bizarre behavior on marijuana.
Lynn said in a statement through her attorney Tamar Arminak, “Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever. She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar. She is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana.”
Amanda Bynes, 28, returned home in December 2013 after several months of treatment. At that time, reports were that the former actress was suffering from mental illness.
Amanda was treated at a Malibu facility and spent some time in the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center, following her arrest for starting a fire in a residential area.
The statement adds, “Amanda currently is on zero medication. She’s devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. Her family is closely involved with her day-to-day life, but they try to give her as much autonomy as possible.”
The former Nickelodeon star appears to be getting her life back in order, deleting her offensive tweets and attending fashion design school at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, California.
