Former “Grease” star John Travolta had one job to do at the Oscars, introduce singer Idina Menzel before her performance of “Let It Go”.
But Travolta seemed to be concentrating more on pronouncing “Wickedly” than he did her actual name, which came out as “Adele Dazeem”. WTF?
John was making the introduction very dramatic as he said “wickedly talented”, but appeared to have an “oh sh*t” moment and forgot her name. He just let it flow and it came out as “Adele Dazeem”.
We can’t bag on him too hard because if we were up there on stage we’d probably freeze up and be unable to even speak. Or maybe his new toupe interfered with his thinking.
Celebrities and late night hosts had a great time mocking Travolta.
The 60 year-old star lit up Twitter with his funny gaffe. Comedienne Rosie O’Donnell was quick to jump on Travolta’s goof, tweeting “I’ll have the ADAHZEE MAZINE with sauce on the side.”
Singer Idina Menzel didn’t comment on the mistake, but a Twitter account was set up and tweeted out, “@AdelaDazeem” tweeted “THANK YOU, JORN TROMOLTO!”
Now you can have your name Travoltified with this handy tool.
In a statement issued through his publicist on Tuesday, John Travolta said, “I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought… what would Idina Menzel say, She’d say, ‘Let it go, let it go!’ Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!”
Menzel has yet to comment on Travolta’s Oscars flub, but a source said the Tony winner “thought it was funny” and gave Travolta a hug after her performance.
