L’Wren Scott, fashion designer and girlfriend to Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger, was found hanging in her Manhattan apartment today. She was 47.
Scott’s body was discovered by her assistant this morning around 10:00 AM. There was no suicide note found and right now police say they do not suspect foul play.
The body of L’Wren Scott, 47, was found hanging from a scarf on a doorknob by her assistant this morning.
Scott reportedly texted her assistant at 8:30 a.m. and asked her to come over. She arrived and called 911 after finding Scott dead.
A spokesman for Mick Jagger said the singer was “completely shocked and devastated” following the news of her death.
A spokeswoman for New York City Police Department released a statement saying, “A 49-year-old female was found this morning at 10.05am at 200 11th Avenue. She was unconscious. She was pronounced dead on arrival by the emergency medical services. The investigation is ongoing. We are awaiting medical examiners to determine the cause of death”.
There are varying reports on her age at the time of death. Her age is listed as 47 on wikipedia, but as 49 in several reports today.
The Mormon-raised designer has been romantically linked to the Rolling Stones frontman since 2001. They were still reportedly in a relationship at the time of her death.
The 6’4″ tall stunner first pursued a career as a model before becoming a stylist and later a designer.
Scott first broke into the fashion industry as a stylist before launching her own line, Little Black Dress, in 2006 that was a big hit with celebrities. Fans include Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman, Christina Hendricks, and Michelle Obama.
L’Wren Scott also worked styling costumes on movie sets such as “Eyes Wide Shut”.
The designer previously told Harper’s Bazaar that she designs with men in mind. She said, “Guys understand a waistline. They understand a silhouette. I dress for men. I have to feel good, you know what I mean?”
L’Wren was reportedly distraught and embarrassed over her failing business, owing nearly $6 million to creditors.
