Why did Selena Gomez go to rehab?

Singer and actress Selena Gomez reportedly went to rehab last month.

The 21-year-old star, who has an off/on relationship with Justin Bieber, checked into Dawn at The Meadows center in Arizona in January.

Gomez entered the rehab center in Arizona on January 5 for two weeks. The facility helps people that are suffering from addiction or emotional trauma.

Selena’s rep confirmed the stint in rehab, but denies it was for drugs.

Despite their claim, there have been reports the “Come and Get It” singer was heavy into Molly as well as prescription drugs including sleep medication Ambien and anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

The former Disney star was urged to seek help by friends and family, who worried her partying was getting out of control.

A source said, “Her friends and family became increasingly worried that there might be a serious problem with Selena. Particularly, her parents. The partying was, at times, wild. They wanted to help her — and they very much encouraged her to go to rehab. Others very close to her also urged her to seek professional help.”

Another insider said, “It’s important to remember that Selena had worked in Hollywood non-stop for six years. She was exhausted. Selena was smart enough to understand that she needed to take control of her life. It just got to a point where she needed to get out of Los Angeles, get away from ‘the scene’ and the pressures of Hollywood, to also get away from those who had, admittedly, become a bad influence on her. Selena needed to take the opportunity to work on herself. She realized she needed help”.

Selena Gomez, who was reported to have “regularly” smoked weed with Justin Bieber, cancelled her shows in Australia this month to take a break.

In a statement to her fans about cancelling her shows, Selena said, “My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
