Devo star Bob Casale has passed away at the age of 61.

Casale’s brother Gerald confirmed his brother Bob had died on Monday from health complications that led to heart failure.

Bob and Gerald Casale formed Devo in the early 1970s with brothers Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh and Alan Myers. They had several hit songs including “Whip It” and “Girl U Want”.

Gerald “Jerry” said, “He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got. He was excited about the possibility of Mark Mothersbaugh allowing Devo to play shows again. His sudden death from conditions that lead to heart failure came as a total shock to us all.”

Gerald confirmed the sad news of his brother’s sudden death.
